Message from President
Raja Pervaiz Khan

The emergence of India and Pakistan on the world map in 1947 brought with it many controversies; one of the biggest was the status of the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The beautiful region known for its breathtaking sceneries and as called by many “The heaven on Earth” is since then is always in the state of misery, as the major part is under the administration of India and some part under Pakistan, also one of the major difference between the two countries. Many resolutions have also been presented in the United Nations and is still a pending case.
The earthquake 2005, billed as one of the world’s worst natural disasters, took approximately 73,000 lives, thousands of homes, roads, livestock and other infrastructures destroyed in several towns and villages. In Pakistan, the worst hit areas were NWFP and AJ&K, both located in the North, Northeast of Pakistan.
After this tragedy the role of GOs and NGOs (local & global) is as vital as it was during the early days so that the process of bringing normality in day to day affairs of the affected areas could be brought to such stage where it may ensure the sustainability of development efforts on strong basis.
With a special thanks to IWO Network, Board Members, volunteers and other partners, whose support, patronage and cooperation enabled IWO to contribute as much as it can, here we pledge to be united and moving shoulders to shoulders to continue the activities for sustainability in the development of marginalized communities of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
